AluminumKnotEye "Nokomis"
My initial reaction was to yank this tape out of the player, but I must have been doing something important at the time as I let it play. Eventually my fears subsided and Aluminum Knot Eye started to overcome my defenses. This four piece plays a brand of jagged post-punk that's got som adherents amongst the kids in Chicago; it's a blend of Lyres-like garage and Chrome-style synaptic damage that bears at least a tangential resemblance to no-wave. Aluminum Knot Eye kick it out with enough zest and abandon to make their shortcomings (there are seventeen songs here so some are bound to be clunkers) forgivable.
